TANGMARAG, Nov 6: Scores of villages in newly created Tehsil Karhama in Tangmarag area of Baramulla district are without Tehsildar and BDO and residents are up in arms against the government. According to sources that newly created Tehsils in 2014 during previous NC-Congress government have remained on papers whereas practically dozens of villages suffer at large in the name of development. Dozens of villages in Karhama Tehsil including Karhama, Tarhama, Wogmuna, Saipora, Wusan Bangil, Hardaboora, Gound Dalwash, Pinjoora, Bongam, Barzulla and other adjoining areas are suffering badly, said sources. "As many as 659 administrative units were created in the state by the NC-Congress government, maximum number of units are non functional among which Karhama Tehsil which is having a population of more than ten thousand is without Tehsildar and Block Development Officer (BDO) and tehsil office is being operated from Panchayat ghar, sources added. A local resident of Wusan Bangil Khurshid Ahmad told Early Times that, "Tehsil Karhma is headless and non-functional from past many months. Since these new administrative units had been created, people are facing hardships to get their work done on a daily basis where as fact of the matter is that sometimes Naib Thesildar visits this tehsil, otherwise people have to visit NT office Goyigan which is almost 5-6 kms far from Karhama to get their work done, he added. Another local resident of Tarhama Manzoor Ahmad said that, "Government should send eligible officers from their respective departments to rural development department on deputation till the posts of BDO and Tehsildar are filled permanently. New administrative units remained on papers only, and practically they are non functional rather useless, adding previous NC-Congress government had be fooled the people in the name of development, said a local. There is a shortage of staff and infrastructure in these institutions, and the expectations of local masses are very high from the present government, so we request the concerned minister and Chief Minister of J&K to make some internal arrangements for this thesil, so that people will not suffer at large, said a group of locals. |
