Sycophants mislead JU's VC, feed him wrong info | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 6: An administrator is expected to be well equipped with meticulous details about the institution he or she is heading. That is not the case, however, with Jammu University's Vice-Chancellor. While interacting with a journalist recently, the VC said, "There are certain elements in Jammu University who got persons close to them appointed on non-sanctioned posts. All university deans have decided that there is no immediate need for persons against non-sanctioned posts and that too without any budgetary provision." It seems that the VC does not know how the appointments are made. All contractual appointments of lecturers in the university are made by the competent authority comprising of selection committee and not at the instance of "certain elements" as claimed by the VC. Sources told Early Times that the university has recently appointed some contractual lecturers in the main campus, offsite campuses and Distance Education Department on non-sanctioned posts on fixed monthly remuneration basis having no budgetary provision. Sources said six contractual lecturers have been appointed in the Law School, three to teach Economics, Sociology and History, two in the Department of M.C.A, seven in the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Management. Similarly, in the Department of Distance Education, five contractual lecturers were appointed in Hindi, Sociology, Urdu, Commerce and Home Science, while 1o were appointed in Offsite Campuses in Kathua, 11 in Ramnagar, 9 in Udhampur, 4 in Reasi, 2 in Poonch, and 13 in Kishtwar. "If one goes through these contractual appointments made recently by the Jammu University, one wonders what prompted the VC to call the appointments as favoritism and nepotism," said sources. "The VC is playing in the hands of few sycophants around him who mislead him, hence bringing disrepute to the chair of the Vice Chancellor," they added. |
