| BJP popularity at stake | | | R.B. Suri
BJP did not take the lesson from Delhi Elections- 2014 but unfortunately did the same thing against the recently constituted Mahagath Bandhan comprising of JDU, RJD and Indian National Congress (INC) in Bihar elections as was done in Delhi Elections-2014. Bihar elections results have been declared by the Election Commission of India on 8th November which are as under :-
JDU+ - 178
BJP+ - 59
Others - 06
Total - 243
BJP thought that it could perform better in Bihar elections and kept its eyes on the coming Assembly elections in the 2 big states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu in the near future . But the results are not encouraging for BJP/NDA at all but totally negative as per their expectations . This is a Total Referendum against MODI Government. The secret behind the victory of JDU+ in Bihar election is that a very close confident of PM Modi, Parshant Kishore who was an In charge of Modi's compaign during the Lok Sabha elections -2014 had changed the guard and was with Nitish Kumar this time as a main campaigner for Mahagath Bandhan in Bihar elections. Kishore discharged his exemplary role for making the Mahagath Bandhan as victorious with more than two third majority in the house .
Against this Mahagath Bandhan in Bihar, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) deployed the big force like a full fledged Division comprising of more than 200 Members of Parliament (MPs), 30+ Union Cabinet Ministers and approximately big infantry of 8000+ office bearers of other state units besides lakhs of RSS workers. Apart from huge man power, BJP did not hesitate to use and deploy the large no. of Helicopters, Cars and other vehicles in the Bihar campaign .
But it was proved beyond any doubt that the popularity of BJP went at stake and started showing the declining trends . It was because of spiting of lot of venom by BJP leaders against the leadership of JDU,RJD and INC.
Reasons for the BJP debacle in Bihar Elections are described as under :-
a) Mohan Bhagwat RSS Chief's statement against reservations in promotions to SC/ ST
b) Projecting only PM Modi before the general public for fetching the votes instead of some body for leading the Government in Bihar as the Chief Minister
c) Using of un parliamentary language against the leaders of Mahagath Bandhan
d) Total sidelining of Bihari Babu Shatrughan Sinha
e) Amit Shah acting as a Big Boss
This time the electorates of Bihar were feeling furious about coming of PM Modi time and again for convincing them to vote for his party. But they totally ignored him and shown him their thumbs.
Pertinent to mention here that in LOK SABHA elections in May 2014, all the seven MP seats of NCR were bagged by BJP . In just seven months , 'DELHI KA MOOD BADLA' and BJP was reduced to the skeleton in Delhi Assembly elections-2015 as it could win only three seats of MLAs in the Legislative house comprising of 70 members. Indian National Congress was totally rooted out with duck score.
Only two political parties made their entry into Delhi Vidhan Sabha and their position in the 70 members Sabha was as under:-
1. Aam Aadmi Party - 67 MLAs
2. BJP -- 03 MLAs
Kejriwal is a very genius and well Organizer . Being a scientific and methodical person he remained successful in building a very good team of young men mostly - Intelligentsia having very good educational background. His team of young men are dedicated and wholly devoted and well determined people.
While calculating the things at the Micro level, they had concentrated on each and every required factor which ultimately led to their victory in the Assembly elections . Day and night they had worked very hard with sleepless nights without any individual considerations.
Earlier also, Prime Minister of the country Narender Modi and the National President of the BJP Amit Shah had made a prestige point to win Delhi Elections -2014 at any cost. But they had to face the humiliating defeat. Owing to this defeat the rank and file of BJP got frustrated much as they had not expected on this score . Kejriwal team proved that nothing is impossible in this world provided one should have the firm determination and NISHTHA.
It was a Total Referendum against MODI Government.
Things went very fast in changing the political scenario of NCR in just seven months only . All the negative campaign made by BJP and using of unparliamentarily language and in genuine words against Arvind Kejriwal in the elections went detrimental to the interests of BJP . Day by day BJP popularity is going down sharply throughout the country.
Also important to mention here that in J&K , Coalition Government of PDP and BJP is in place since March 1st of this year . Visibly,it is functioning but under the soil, there is infighting in both the partners as the Leaders of both the parties who are in power as the Ministers want that this government should go as it is whereas the leaders in both the parties who are not given the berths in the ministry want that it should go immediately without any delay . Apart from these reports, latest instances of unhappiness in PDP that both the Members of Parliament Muzafar Hussain Baigh and Tariq Hamid Qarra who are the lawyers by profession have kept themselves away from the PM Modi's visit to Srinagar on November 7. Similar case is with the BJP- who's important functionary Prof . Hari Om out brusted and asked the National leadership of BJP to immediately withdraw from the Agenda of Alliance which is the very base of the Coalition Government in J&K and started shooting the letters to PM Modi and BJP Supremo Amit Shah on this score . Certainly one thing is there that the people of Jammu region are very much annoyed with the performance of the BJP Ministers in the Coalition Government.
On November 7, PM Modi addressed a joint rally of PDP and BJP in Sher-e-Kashmir stadium at Srinagar under the tightest security in the valley . He announced a financial package to the state of Jammu and Kashmir to the order of 80068 crores of rupees for the all round development and progress. He praised the youth of the state who are showing their talent in every field of life these days. While announcing the package he made it clear that this is the beginning only and if the need be further he will not hesitate to give the further financial assistance to the state . Reacting sharply the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah quoted that " We are disappointed .We were prepared for a historic visit which did not happen. We did not get to hear what we wanted to hear. Perhaps we should not have attached too many hopes. " He preferred a political package about the Kashmir issues instead of economic one . During the last 8 months BJP in Jammu region lost the ground as the Jammuites are totally annoyed with it. They allege that BJP has surrendered the issues of Jammu region but instead adopted the policy of sailing on the low profile under the dominance of PDP .There was an era of Indefinite Bandhs in Jammu province against the State Government and Jammu based BJP leaders who got the ministerial berths in Mufti Government . At that time the Co-ordination Committee of Jammu BAR was in the command and control of the Jammu masses who came out of their respective houses against BJP and in support of their demand for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu. CCI Jammu was also in direct touch with the people of Jammu on this score . BJP family was totally cut off during the said agitation as it had lost the ground in Jammu Division . Pertinent to mention that Jammu region was always discriminated by the state governments in the past with regard to deployment of funds and providing of job opportunities to the unemployed youth of Jammu region . West Pakistan Refugees were always sidelined and even their fourth generations have not become the state citizens as yet despite of their repeated demands which include the demand for an appropriate financial package . Even the daily rated workers of various department are getting the less wages per day in comparison to their counterparts working in Kashmir region besides their regularization .
From Bihar and Delhi Assembly elections it has been proved that BJP/NDA are beatable and for the opposition parties , a ray of hope is generated that the people still like their ideologies , policies and programmes . Seeing the diminishing graph of BJP popularity their prudent leadership may think for a third front in the country. At the same time BJP deserves appreciation also for reaching to the every nook and corner of the country as it has succeeding in wining the elections in Leh and Kerala Municipality. BJP is required to take the corrective measures in re-establishing itself on the ground in the masses and at the same time opposition parties should think for their unity in the broader interests of the country.
At the same time the leadership of BJP is required to make the indepth analysis of the debacle of BJP and should go for taking the corrective steps before it is too late . This is must for their survival in the political set up of the country and shortly they would be facing the music of two bold Indian Women- Mamta Bannerji in West Bengal and J Jayalalita in Tamil Nadu as in their states elections are coming very soon.
