Growing anger of Dalits, OBCs likely to repeat "Bihar" for BJP in Jammu region in future | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: In the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Scheduled Castes (SCs) had came out in large number to vote in favour of BJP in J&K but results of Bihar elections is an indication that weaker sections are fed up with the Saffron Party within 17 months after the formation of NDA Government at the Centre. The way weaker sections are united against BJP is an indication that bad days are ahead for the party in J&K also where reserved categories are already up in arms against anti-weaker sections policies being promoted by the State Government in which BJP is a partner. SCs are on the war-path against alleged conspiracy hatched by the coalition government to deprive them of their constitutional rights of promotion in the government jobs. SCs have already started mobilization campaign against BJP for not challenging High Court's decision on reservation. Barring one, all BJP Ministers are against challenging High Court's decision in which Court had struck down some clauses of the J&K Reservation Act. The OBCs, on the other hand, feeling dejected because after passing of eight months, BJP leadership has not shown any interest to fulfil their demand of implementing Mandal Commission report in the State. It was all due to the over-whelming support of the OBCs that BJP had won both the Parliamentary seats and 25 assembly seats of Jammu province but after formation of the coalition government the BJP leadership has shamelessly shown its back to the OBCs. Instead of acknowledging support rendered by OBCs to the party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, one of the BJP Ministers has recently told a delegation that OBCs have not voted for the party in recently. This delegation had gone to meet the BJP minister to press for their demand of implementing Mandal Commission recommendation in J&K State. The growing anger of SCs and OBCs against BJP is going to affect Saffron Party's future in Jammu region where these two sections of the society constituted nearly 48 percent of the population. |
