Reshuffle in middle-rung bureaucracy on cards | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 9: After a major reshuffle last month that saw many IAS and IPS officers transferred, the PDP-BJP government is all set to go for an overhaul in the middle-rung bureaucracy. Reliable sources told Early Times that the government is preparing a list of middle-rung officers including Directors and Deputy Directors who are likely to be transferred in the next cabinet meeting. "I can tell you that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is serious towards accountability in the administration and he is personally going through the record of every bureaucrat," a senior official said on the condition of anonymity. Sources said that around 100 Deputy Directors are also likely to be transferred as they are working in the same department from almost three years. "The CM has asked for a list of officials along with their tenure from the respective Head of Departments. The authorities have compiled a list of honest and upright officers who would be given important postings," sources said. "On the directions of the CM, the General Administration Department is compiling a list which will be forwarded to the Chief Minister's office," they said. Moreover, the Chief Minister's Secretariat is also compiling a list of honest and upright officers who would be given important postings. "The idea behind the reshuffle is to make the middle-rung administration more efficient and responsive to the people so that concrete steps would be taken towards the development," the sources said. The cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Mufti last month, had ordered transfer of several IAS and IPs officers. |
