Despite Government orders, private tuitions continue in Sunderbani | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 9: Despite the austerity measures taken to cleanse the education system in district Rajouri of all felonies attached to the private tuition, the business is going on unabated with no rule of law enforced upon it coming for its check. Director Education Jammu, Smita Sethi in an assurance given to Early Times dated 10 Oct had sternly said that strict action would be initiated against anybody found undertaking the private tuitions. Expressing her astonishment over the banned practice going unabated in Rajouri district, the Director Education had immediately came out with an order to all CEOs under her domain to keep a strict vigil on any such practice and immediately report to her so that punitive action can be taken against them. In this regard an order No 32642/DSEJ dated 26/10/2015 was issued instructing all concerned CEOs falling under her my jurisdiction with a message clear and loud that any teacher, master or principal found giving private tuitions to the students after the school hours be brought under the legal ambit so that action under the law can be taken against him or her. Though the order was enforced, but no action was reported from any quarter as in Rajouri district many of the teachers of the government school are spending hours at their homes giving tuition to the students of the rich and influential people who pay hefty amounts as tuition fee to the teachers to satiate their money needs. This has evoked irking response from the parents and the students belonging to low income group who cannot afford to pay the tuition fee and hence their children remain deprived of such educational succor. While the teachers keep the practice going, they are of the opinion that it is not that for making more money that they impart education to the students desirous of needing extra benefit, but to chisel and hone their academic skills to meet the challenges of competition. This was heavily refuted by the poor parents whose wards too read in the same school and in same class but could not afford to send his son for tuition due to heavy tuition fee. In this regard another government order came up 562/DSEJ dated Nov 7, 2015 which again carried a strict action against the defaulter. The people of Rajouri tehsil Sunderbani are of opinion that only to make their mark in the media that the DSEJ is coming up with the orders without taking action so that an impression could be sent that action is being taken. They allege that the ground reality is contrary to that as private tuition practitioners are doing the illegal job at their will. Smita Sethi when asked about such malfunction, skipped the Early Times query with a plea that she will talk today, while today she avoided many calls from the Early Times reporter. However CEO Rajouri Mohammad Altaf has assured that he will take the necessary action against the defaulters and would bring them to books Section 28, RTE Act 2009 states that, "No teacher shall engage himself or herself in private tuition or private teaching activity", banning all teachers, irrespective of whether they work in government or private elementary schools, from taking private tuition. |
