NC adopts atrocious resolution, demands semi-independence | Srinagar NC WC meet | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: The Working Committee of the National Conference (NC), which met today at Srinagar under the presidentship of the defeated Farooq Abdullah, and adopted five highly controversial resolutions. One of the resolutions was on greater autonomy for Jammu & Kashmir State. The atrocious resolution No. two on autonomy or semi-independence read: "The Working Committee of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference reiterates the restoration of the State's Autonomy forms the bedrock of the party's political agenda. The party is committed to upholding the political dignity and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. While the party passed the Autonomy Resolution with two-thirds majority in 2000, we will continue to struggle for this goal in the future with vigour and sincerity of purpose. While the party has put forth the restoration of Autonomy as a viable and credible solution to the political issue, the party welcomes those alternative methods of resolution that would be acceptable to the people of the State and would address their political aspirations". Who gave the mandate to the defeated, Valley-based and fundamentally sectarian NC to speak for the nationalist people of Jammu province and Ladakh region, who are religiously committed to the unity and integrity of India and long for a dispensation that not only integrates them fully with India but also separates them from Kashmir known for its separatist and communal politics as well as for politics that threw the minority community of Kashmiri Hindus out of the Valley en-block in early 1990 and converted the Valley into one-religion and one-community region? The people of these two regions have not authorized anyone outside their regions to speak for them and the 2014 verdict that they gave established once and for all that they were vehemently opposed to such pernicious slogans as autonomy, self-rule, limited accession, Pakistan and azadi. And the NC must understand that. The people of Jammu and Ladakh hate and despise the kind of politics the parties like the NC indulge in to create problems for India in the Valley and trouble and frighten the nationalist minorities in the state. |
