Jammu, Nov 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has decided to conduct screening tests of candidates who have applied for posts of College Assistant Professors in eight subjects, due to higher number of applications in them. Sources informed Early Times that screening tests of candidates who have applied in subjects including BBA, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Environment Sciences, Political Science, Sociology and Urdu would be conducted as the applicants' number was high. "According to criteria if there are 100 posts and the applications are more than 350, then it is required to conduct screening test to shortlist candidates in the ratio of 1:3", an official said, adding that in all those above mentioned subjects, number of applications was quite high, so it was decided that screening test must be conducted. He further informed that in the remaining 47 subjects, there would be no screening test and only interviews would be conducted. "The interviews are likely to be started in the last week of November", the official said. Secretary JKPSC, Shakel-Ul-Rehman confirmed that screening test would be conducted in eight subjects in the last week of December. On being asked if screening test will be conducted after publication of deficiency notice, he said that the decision would be taken by the Commission and so far no decision has been taken. An aspirant pleading anonymity said that JKPSC had advertised the posts of Assistant Professors twice, due to which many aspirants had applied twice. "By filling forms twice, the number of applicants in many subjects might be high, so Commission must first issue deficiency list so that after scrutiny the exact number of applicants could be figured out and then call on screening test should be taken" he added. Pertinently, the Division bench of JK High Court chaired by Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice BS Walia, while hearing the Letters Patent Appeal (LPA) filed by Higher Education Department, had stayed the judgment of single bench of High Court chaired by Justice Tashi Rabastan, who had upheld M.Phil qualification as the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professors. Division Bench has also directed government to kept 43 posts out of 1659 reserved till the final verdict of LPA came. |
