Addressing media persons, senior vice president Surjit Choudhary said "M.A course in Political Science and Economics were closed during mid-session in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) leaving hundreds of students in dilemma while as those responsible. Further, B.Ed and M.Ed courses were also closed for the reasons best known to the Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma." It was the inability of Programme Coordinators that led to closure of PG Courses in Political Science and Economics but University authorities shifted blame on the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Distance Education Council (DEC) but the real guilty people were spared as they share proximity with the dispensation, he added. He further said that M.Ed and B.Ed courses also suffered the similar fate and here also the guilty officials were spared. He flayed the University authorities for their failure to conduct the interviews for the several teaching positions in DDE owing to which students were suffering badly as they were going for practical in different colleges but the inconvenience to the students could have been avoided through the contractual appointments of the teachers. NSF urged the Governor (Chancellor of the University) to immediately intervene and ask the Vice Chancellor to conduct inquiry into the reasons due to which the courses were closed. He also demanded that all the appointments be made at the earliest so that students of DDE won't suffer any more. |
