BSP holds rally, says reservations not a charity | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Nov 9: The State unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party led by president Tarsem Khullar, State coordinators R.K Bhagat organised a mammoth rally and also submitted memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Samba. Addressing gathering, Tarsem Khullar informed that the Bahujan Samaj Party has demanded immediate calling of special session of the State Legislature for extending 77th, 81st and 85th Amendment Acts of Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir State so that the situation in the matters of promotion in employment arising as a result of Court orders could be negated for all times to come. He further stated that the reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and Backward sections was not a charity but a matter of according representation to the people who were traditionally deprived of education, means of livelihood and safety by the braminical system and their religion and it was because of untiring efforts of Baba Saheb Ambedkar that these sections were given their human rights. He further stated that the statement of Mohan Bhagwat, RSS chief for reviewing the reservation policy was just the tip of the iceberg. The President of the Bahujan Samaj Party criticized the previous Government of Congress and National conference for the befooling the SCs, STs, OBCs by making half hearted adhoc arrangements and sitting over the matter for full tenure of six years without extending 77th, 81st and 85th Amendments to the State. He further stated that the present BJP PDP Government was following the same policy as of the previous Government in respect of SCs, STs and OBCs.
