KVK Poonch organizes Veterinary Clinical Camp | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch organized veterinary clinical camp at village Saujian of Tehsil Mandi on Wednesday to address nutritional, medicinal and gynecological problems in animals. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. KS Risam Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu. He emphasized upon the importance of Animal husbandry for the farmers of the region and encouraged the farmers to adopt dairy farming for enhancing their livelihood. He also suggested the farmers to introduce improved and exotic breeds of animals. Dr. Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator of KVK Poonch urged farmers to take maximum benefit of such camps being organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The camp was attended more than hundred number of villagers for the medical check-up and treatment of their animals and about 200 animals including cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and horses were treated during the camp. Dr. Neelesh Sharma (Medicine), Dr. Sudhir Kumar (Gynecology) and Dr. D.K. Dwivedi (Surgery) from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J along with Post Graduate students carried out the diagnostic and clinical works during the camp. These include 10 surgery cases, 10 gynecology, 73 medicine and 190 nutritional deficiency cases. Dr. K.S. Risam being an expert in Veterinary Sciences also carried out diagnosis of some complicated cases. Dr. Anil Gupta, Inspector District Veterinary Hospital Poonch and Trilok Singh, LSA were also present during the camp. The scientists identified endo-parasites as a major problem in these animals and recommended the practice of regular and proper de-worming. The villagers were also provided free medicines for their ailing animals. In addition, mineral mixtures for growth and high productivity of animals were also distributed during the camp. |
