ET Report JAMMU, Dec 3: An SP, who had used political pressure to get posted as SP of a district against the wishes of police headquarters (PHQ), has now been given a punishment posting and transferred to an armed battalion as a deputy commandant, a junior post. During his previous posting, PHQ never wanted to give him the responsibility of heading a district as its SSP but he managed it with the blessings of his political masters, police sources said. However, after the change of guard in the State, he was given the less important posting of a deputy commandant in an armed battalion. PHQ too had favoured this posting for him in its proposal sent to the Government for approval, sources informed. He was serving in Jammu at the time of his transfer as district SP. Sources said a DIG, who considered him as his "favourite", had helped him in his posting as the district police head. "The DIG, who is now retired, had influenced a Minister in the erstwhile NC-Congress Government for his posting," the sources added. |
