J&K is destined to split, Mr Geelani | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 3: The fast-growing demand in Jammu and Ladakh for the State's division has rattled and upset all the Kashmiri leaders. The so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders have ganged up against the protagonists of the State's trifurcation and Kashmir's bifurcation, saying that four-way split of the State is not acceptable and that those who are working for its division are "anti-Kashmir", "anti-national" and "communal". Significantly, the BJP has also purchased some votaries of the State's trifurcation. Everyone in Jammu knows who merged the Jammu State Morcha with the BJP only a few months ago to become the party's spokesperson. At the same time, they want New Delhi to grant greater autonomy or self-rule to J&K to meet their communal and separatist urges and help them strengthen their hold over the State's two other regions - Jammu and Ladakh - and rule the State, plunder its resources and exploit the people unhindered. Of course, there are some opinion-makers in the Valley like Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Ashraf who describe the State as an unnatural formation and say that time has come to allow the people of Jammu to live their own chosen life and people of Kashmir their own chosen life. As for separatists, they, like the so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders have also ganged up against those demanding trifurcation of the State into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh States and bifurcation of the Valley into Kashmir (for Muslims) and Panun Kashmir (for the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus). Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Yasin Malik have all opposed the idea of the State being trifurcated and the Valley being bifurcated. Syed Ali Shah Geelani too has not lagged behind. In fact, on Wednesday, he denounced those demanding the division of the State and stated that the State as it existed on August 15, 1947 is a single political unit. "Division of the former princely State of Jammu and Kashmir, including those parts under Pakistani control, was an unacceptable solution and reiterated his stand that dialogue between India and Pakistan would be futile without focusing on resolution of the Kashmir issue. Any solution of K-issue which divides the erstwhile princely State of Jammu and Kashmir, which also includes regions under Pakistani control, is unacceptable," he told reporters at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar. "Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and it is a single unit. Jammu division, Valley, Ladakh, Azad Kashmir (Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir) and Gilgit-Baltistan is a disputed territory and we are not in favour of dividing this entire region. We will not allow any area to be divided," Geelani further said. Let the Kashmiri leaders of all shades of opinion say whatever they want to say, but the fact remains that the State of J&K is destined to disintegrate or split as it houses diverse population and as the people of Jammu and people of Ladakh and internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus have resolved to break the chains of slavery and lead a dignified life within India and under the Indian Constitution whatever it is and whatever it stands for. No power on earth, not even PM Narendra Modi, can crush the voice of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and Kashmiri Hindus. |
