BARAMULLA, Dec 3: On a special drive, Jammu and Kashmir traffic police seized over a dozen of vehicles and charge sheeted more than 480 vehicles including of MLA Baramulla's vehicle from Baramulla town here in north Kashmir. According to sources, "In order to ensure safety of the passengers and drivers of the vehicles with a view to check this menace effectively, on the basis of compliant special drives was launched today by Traffic police in north Kashmir. During the whole process as many as 480 violators were challaned under the various traffic offences and an amount of Rs.93, 000 has been realized as fine to serve as deterrence." Sources said certain measures shall have to be adopted by the drivers and commuters for their safety and hassle-free traffic movement in and around the district so that the general public will feel safe and secure. There are high traffic violations due to which certain measures have to be take out including avoiding overtaking, controlling speed, wearing a helmet, wearing seat belts, avoiding driving on the wrong side, halting vehicles on pedestrian crossings and avoiding use of cell phones while driving. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Kashmir, Sharindar Mishra told Early Times, "We have seized over a dozens of vehicles including the Bolero of MLA Baramulla, Javid Hussain Beigh." "I was here on a special drive in Baramulla, on the complaint basis of repeated traffic violations, we have seized over a dozens of vehicles and challaned 480 vehicles including of MLA, compound money to the tune of Rs.93, 000 has been realized from the violators during the checking adding that, they will be produced before the court and they will be released there," said SSP Traffic. |
