Medical student, Sarpanch among 3 held | Udhampur Petrol bomb attack | | Ashwani Kumar Early Times Report Udhampur, Dec 3: Police on Thursday claimed that it arrested two main accused and a Sarpanch in connection with Udhampur petrol bomb attack, which claimed a life of a Kashmiri trucker in October this year. Police identified the arrested duo as Amit Singh, s/o Hem Raj, a medical student of Nar Singh Medico College and Balram Singh alias Pankaj s/o Kirpal Singh of Subash Nagar,Udhampur. Police have also arrested a Sarpanch of the area Vikas Singh for providing shelter to the duo. The police sources said that investigations have revealed that on October 9 this year duo first broke the front glass of the Kashmir bound truck and later threw a petrol bomb inside it due to which three persons, including a police man, sustained injuries. Later, one of the two persons, who had sustained severe burn injuries succumbed to his injuries in New Delhi's Safdarjung hospital. Following the incident, police rounded up five persons and on their disclosure the main culprits were arrested, sources added. The deceased Zahid was the conductor of the Kashmir bound truck and was en route to Kashmir when a mob attacked it with petrol bombs on October 9. The driver of the truck Showkat Ahmed is still undergoing treatment. The entire incident has been recorded on CCTV and two attackers were arrested immediately by the policemen deployed on patrolling duty. The arrested included Harish Katoch Bal Bahadur, Sandoor Singh and Suneet Singh. All residents of Udhampur in Jammu region. |
