PDP hails Mufti govt for launching Marriage Assistance Scheme for poor girls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3: Lauding the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led coalition government for launching Marriage Assistance Scheme (MAS) for poor girls, the PDP on Thursday said that the scheme would provide much relief to the needy families across the state. "We hail the government led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for launching revolutionary marriage assistance scheme for the poor girls," PDP General Secretary, Ved Mahajan said today. He said that this scheme would provide much relief to the poor and needy families across the state. Mahajan termed this scheme as "historic and revolutionary" because government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs 25,000 and cost of five grams of gold as marriage assistance scheme for poor girls. It is a social assistance scheme meant for those unmarried identified girls of the state living below poverty line, who may not find themselves in a position to marry due to financial constraints, he said. Calling upon party workers to educate the people about this revolutionary and pro-poor scheme so that deserving people can take benefit of it, Mahajan said that norms for availing benefit under the scheme are that the prospective beneficiary girl should be above 18 years of age, and should be an identified poor girl in the survey lists. The PDP general secretary also hailed the decision of the state government to launch a new scheme namely 'Hunnar' as per guidelines for its implementation in Jammu and Kashmir with immediate effect. Mahajan also hailed the cabinet approval for establishment of two cluster Universities at Srinagar and Jammu. He said that this will not only give impetus to higher education, but will also increase the employability chances. |
