World Disabled Day observed across state

Jammu, Dec 3: On the World Disabled Day, Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Welfare Forum (JKHWF) staged protest demonstration and observed as Black day.
A protest was held at Ghagwal by hundreds of physically challenged persons who raised slogans in favour of their genuine demands. They expressed their serious resentment against the J&K State Government for not giving due attention to their genuine demands which are lying pending since long.
During protest they demands put forth regarding pension to all disabled persons, timely disbursement of disabled pension, I-Card to all disabled persons, clear up of all the pending cases of pension of disabled persons, enhancement of monthly pension from Rs. 400/- to Rs. 8000/- per month for persons with 40% and above disability, reservation according to population which explains presently the reservation is given to the handicapped persons at the rate of 3% as per the disability Act 1988. In Jammu and Kashmir State there is more than 10% of population of disabled persons. So the forum demanded to raise percentage of reservation from 3% to 10%.
Among those who were present on the occasion included Charan Dass, G.B.Jangral, Mohinder Paul, Luxman Dass, Narayan Dutt, Rajesh Khajuria, Giani, Dwarka Nath, Rashpal Sharma, Rahul Verma, Vijay Kumar, Vinod Kumar Pangotra, Sushma Devi, Pooja Devi, Balbir Singh, Rajinder Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Nisha Devi, Shindi Devi and others.
In order to show the sympathies and to give encourage the families of disabled Persons to send their disabled childrens to a special school for disabled persons at DIET Kishtwar wherein two resources teachers will teach and guide them for better future, Education department Kishtwar under the leadership of Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Abdul Hamid Fani today organized a massive really in support of disable persons on the eve of
World Disabled Day in which more than 250 students from various schools participated and joined the disabled persons and their families as a part of major boost initiative of Education Department Kishtwar. The rally which started from Dak Banglow Kishtwar and culminated at HSS girls Kishtwar was inaugurated and flagged off by SSP Kishtwar SandeepWazir in presence of Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, CEO Kishtwar Abdul Hamid Fani, Dy. SP Operation Irshad Ahanger, Dy. CEO Kishtwar Prahalad Baghat, ZEO Kishtwar Subash Sharma, staff of various schools. On this occasion the main function was organized at HSS Girls wherein these disabled children showed their talent by singing religious songs, drawing paintings and other skills. One disabled girl having no arms trained by local resource teachers at DIET Kishtwar showed her writing skill with her foot remained the main attraction of today's program. While talking to "Early Times", CEO Kishtwar Abdul Hamid Fani said that there is need to provide all possible help to these disabled children's, added that they deserve love and affection from the society, family and the friends so that these disabled childrens could not feel inferior. He urged upon the parents of the disabled childrens to enrolled them in specially established school for disabled persons presently under operational from DIET Kishtwar.
The World Disabled day function was organized by Chief Education Officer Ramban in collaboration with DIET institute Banihal under SSA.
According to press release, the tehsildar, Banihal Arshad Hussian was the chief guest during the occasion besides, Deputy Chief Education Officer Ramban, Chief education officer Banihal kuldeep Raina, Principal Diet, Principal Hr Secondary School Banihal, local citizens teachers and students of different Schools was took part in the function.
On this occasion all the speakers presented their thought on this special day.
They said that children's and persons with special need are also the part of our society and it is our duty to help them in every aspect of life. They further said that the special able persons are the part of our society and they have equal rights in the society.
They thanked all the participants who were present in the occasion. They assured the participants that these kind of programmes will be held in future as well. Diet coordinator Assadullah Bhat was the stage Secretary during the function.
