Wamiq Farooq killing: Judicial custody of cops extended till Dec 7

Srinagar, Dec 3: A local court here today extended judicial custody of two policemen in connection with the killing a 12-year-old boy Wamiq Farooq in 2010 till December 7.
1st Additional District and Sessions Judge while hearing the case also sought objections to the bail applications moved by the accused policemen Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Khaliq Sofi and Constable Mohammad Akram. Wamiq, a Class 7 student was killed after a teargas shell fired by the police allegedly hit him on the head near Gani Memorial Stadium at Rajouri Kadal here on 31 January 2010. His death triggered massive protests in the Valley Meanwhile, the victim's father, Farooq Ahmad Wani, moved an application before the Principal District and Session Judge and sought the transfer of the case back to him.
"The court has sought para wise reply from the 1st Additional District and Sessions Judge by tomorrow," advocate Aijaz Ahamd Dar, representing victim's father, said.
