Srinagar, Dec 3: There was still no relief for the customers of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited as phone lines remained dead for the past five days, badly affecting the professionals, students and media persons in the uptown. Thousands of telephones remained dead as the BSNL has failed to restore the six cables stolen by some thieves during the night intervening November 28 and 29 in Natipora area of the uptown. An official of the BSNL said, "it will take another week or so to restore the lines. Our General Manager is visiting the area tomorrow to find a lasting solution to the problem as this is not the first time that cables were stolen by unidentified persons," adding that in the past also FIRs were also registered in the police station without any break-through. Customers alleged that their telephones remained dead as the BSNL has failed to restore the lines. Customers, particularly using Broadband service, were the most affected due to non functional of phone. Students, professionals, media person and doctors were the worst-hit.
