Jammu, Dec 5: The Health Minister is likely to re-inaugurate a Trauma Centre at Ghagwal which was inaugurated in his presence as a Member Parliament by the then Health Minister Shabir Ahmed Khan on January 7 in 2013. Since the day the health institution has been inaugurated it has faced man power scarcity or machineries but the department concerned seems least bothered about it. Source in department said that during inauguration, all the speakers (Minister, MP and then MLA) had claimed that Centre would be fully functional and rural people would get benefited. "But unfortunately after lapse of 20 months, the Trauma Centre is not fully functional", he added. "Presently only three doctors one simple MBBS, an Aurvedic doctor and dental surgeon along with insufficient paramedical staff run the Trauma Centre", said Sarpanch of Nonath Panchayat, Vijay Togatra. The Sarpanch said that owing to non-availability of sufficient manpower and machineries, the people are still compelled to visit district hospital Samba for their treatment. "It is unfortunate, on one hand the GoI runs various schemes for Janani Shishu Surkasha Yojana for pregnant women but on the other hand, the Janani (Pregnant women) have to walk many kilometres for their treatment", said Tagotra. Bimla Devi, Sarpanch of Ghagwal said that our pleas to make the Trauma Centre functional fully have fallen into deaf ears. An official of DHS, Samba said that not only the Ghagwal Trauma Centre but other Trauma Centres in the state were also facing the government apathy. "This shows that majority of people's representatives are not sensitive towards the problems of the common masses. They are interested more in new constructions due to their alleged vested interests", he said. |
