Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Dec 5: The Services Selection Board changed the timing of examination of different trades without informing the candidates. The candidates alleged that the timing was changed without informing them and that it should have been done earlier so that there were no problems for them.
A group of candidates told Early Times that the examination was first scheduled to be held on October 7, 2015, but was postponed to November 14 and then again was deferred to November 29 with the examination finally held today at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Mallabagh here. "Few days ago the notification regarding examination centers, date and timing was published in a local daily newspaper of Srinagar. It was clearly written that the examination for matric based candidates will be held at 10:30 am to 1:00 pm whereas for graduate level at 2 to 4:30 pm," said candidates wishing anonymity.
The candidates said that they came from different places of Kashmir division including Anantnag, Qazigund, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kupwara and Baramulla. "There were two rounds of the examination, the morning and afternoon shifts, and it was difficult for us to reach back to our homes in the late evening. The concerned authorities should have announced the timing earlier since we suffered at large," said candidates. The candidates said that they reached the examination centre one hour prior to the examination timing so that they did not miss the examination. They said that they followed all instructions accordingly, but still then the SSB delayed the exam by three hours. The candidates said that this has given an apprehension that the selection too might be fishy.
"We had a difficult time reaching the examination centers. Since last night we have been staying in the government hospitals only because of examination as we couldn't afford hotels and other private accommodation because of poverty," said candidates. It has been leant that 400- 500 candidates from all over Kashmir had come to appear in written exams for different posts which were advertised by SSB under advertisement notification no: 330-02 of 2011. The examination was held in various trades like Dental, Electrician and Tourism.
