For BJP Ministers party office has become a 'farthest' point | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 5: The distance between Civil Secretariat and the BJP office in Jammu is hardly 500 mts but the latter has become farthest point for the party Ministers after assuming their chairs in the corridors of power. They are so busy that they cannot make themselves available in the party office just for an hour or so, that is why the party has to virtually 'beg' before them to seek their time. This is not for any personal level appointments but an arrangement devised by the BJP leadership lately to build a 'meaningful' rapport with the workers, which the Ministers have failed. Sources said in order to pacify the anger and resentment of workers and cadres against the Ministers for having distanced them after BJP came to power, the leadership formulated a plan under which all the Ministers have been asked to visit the party office at least once a week. The step was necessitated when the reports even reached the Central leadership that Ministers were ignoring the workers as a result of which resentment was brewing fast within latter, sources said adding that the increasing gap between the workers and Ministers is something which the party cannot afford despite being in power. This arrangement was given a practical shape soon after Durbar shifted to the winter capital when 4-5 Ministers visited the party office one after the other. However, it soon hit a roadblock as the Ministers are not forth coming for a long time, not to speak of regularity they should have maintained for this small work tagged with responsibility towards the party which has given them the identity of a Minister. The system is not working at all as the party has to plead and in a way implore upon the Ministers as to when they are free so that the meeting could be fixed with the workers, said the sources adding that this has aggravated a feeling of disenchantment among the cadres. In fact those who made it just once also did not come as a matter of responsibility they owe to party instead for the sake of formality to register themselves with Central leadership, said the sources who added that it was a futile exercise as there was no sense of commitment to address the problems and issues of workers came up during the interaction. Now the million dollar question that entire hierarchy of the party is asking that if the Ministers are seriously so busy that they cannot make themselves available? That if their schedule is so hard and hectic that they cannot spare time once in 10 days? Even more pertinent question remains is that when the Darbar is here in the winter capital, their offices are at a stone's throw and their official residences at a distance of not more than 2-3 kms from the office, what makes them to act and pose 'over priced? Also why the party leadership is so meek that they have to beg and seek their time and not just prepare a roaster straightway and ask them to adhere to it…? |
