'Frustrated' separatists fight it out in open | Don't blame people for your failures: Mirwaiz to Geelani | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 5: Differences within the separatist camp have come out in open as the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has taken on the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani head on for blaming the people for failure of separatists. Mirwaiz recently said, "Leaders should not blame people for their failures." Hurriyat dove's statement came a few days after Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani announced that people have failed the leadership. Sources told Early Times that Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has taken a strong exception to Mirwaiz' statement and have got it conveyed to him that he should "mind his own business" rather than poking his nose into the matters which don't fall within his domain. Insiders revealed that Pakistan’s sidelining Mirwaiz has crippled him and he somehow wants to challenge the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani who is receiving all the support from his bosses sitting across the Line of Control. "Many separatists changing their loyalties and joining Geelani's camp has left the Mirwaiz alone," the source added. They said Geelani's camp has outrightly rejected the idea of Mirwaiz to devise a joint strategy. "We have got nothing to do with the Mirwaiz and his camp. Neither are we interested in joining hands with him, sources quoted a few leaders of Geelani camp as having said. Insiders revealed that to counter Geelani's call for protests after Friday prayers, close aides of Mirwaiz roped in the traders of the old city and asked them to observe a shutdown today. "We have been caught between the forces and the stone pelters who come from other areas and disturb the law and order in the old city after Friday prayers every week. Miscreants run away after pelting stones and we have to face the wrath of the forces," said a trader wishing not to be named. Sources said that stone-pelting after Friday prayers every week in Mirwaiz's bastion has led to sharp decline in number of people visiting Jamia Masjid in Srinagar's old city and businessmen have been the worst hit. "It has been observed that stone pelters usually come from other areas and they are led by their group leaders who leave no stone unturned to orchestrate trouble," they added. Insiders revealed that stone pelters are pushed into old city by the supporters of Geelani. The Hurriyat hawk ensures to call for protests after Friday prayers as soon as he gets the green signal from his men that everything is ready. "Frequent stone pelting incidents have made Mirwaiz unpopular as people blame him for the unrest and trouble after Friday congregation prayers ever week. Mirwaiz has realized that his enemies are attacking him on all the fronts and has decided to launch a counter attack to safe guard his interests," the source added. He said, "It's Geelani's dream to conquer old city and overthrow Mirwaiz, who is also the chief priest of Jamia Masjid. Mirwaiz has realized it and has decided to take on Hurriyat hawk head on." |
