Mehbooba too praises PM Modi | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 5: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who is rumored to be next CM of J&K, has now openly started supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a function at New Delhi she said Modi is taking forward the Vajpayee doctrine and the reports of the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visiting Pakistan is a sign of it. It's an open and important endorsement of Modi by Mehbooba Mufti who has strong views on the policies of Delhi with respect to the Kashmir and Pakistan. According to the sources, the visit of Swaraj will give much needed space for Mehbooba Mufti to convince the people in the Valley that the BJP is not averse to hold talks with Pakistan and could eventually do with the separatists and this could build the atmosphere for her coronation. "Mehbooba has openly stated that the BJP should follow the policies and ideologies of the Vajpayee and by stating that Modi is taking around, she is suggesting and signaling that Delhi is agreeing to her stand and it could be atmospheric she wants before taking over the seat of the CM," said a senior PDP leader, who is privy to the developments. The PDP president doesn't want to assume the seat in a hurry as she has long political career ahead and doesn't want to mar with the hurry the political observers say was shown by Omar Abdullah. "Mehbooba Mufti wants to first ensure that BJP respect that huge risk the PDP has taken by forming an alliance with it and then send the right conciliatory notes both with the Pakistan and separatists as these are the key narratives in the Kashmir and she doesn't want to send a message that to be CM just for some time, the party has abandoned its ideology as it will undo her 17-yr of extreme leg work. She can't risk that and it seems PM is agreeing with her," said the leader. |
