Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 5: CBI's anti-corruption wing, Jammu, today presented challan against V K Savita, then assistant director handicraft in ministry of textiles, Aruna Rawat, secretary of Social Action for Social Development (SASD), an NGO, R S Rawat and Payal Tickoo in an alleged misappropriation of funds of Rs 16,35,000. It is alleged in the challan that SASD through its secretary Aruna Rawat in the jurisdiction of Marketing and Service Extension Centre (M&SEC), Jammu, in league with the officials of M&SEC, Jammu, under the office of Regional Director and Development Officer, Ministry of Textiles, wrongly got sanctioned centrally sponsored schemes/workshops and thereafter siphoned off funds worth Rs 16,35,000 without conducting the workshops as per guidelines. It was also alleged that the NGO, which was active in Daboh, Manmnanu, Duree and Shah villages of block and district Samba, was sanctioned different projects and V K Savita in connivance with the NGO and some unknown persons with the intention of not executing these projects siphoned off government funds of Rs 16,35,000. After registering a case in this connection and completion of inquiry, CBI presented the challan today. (JNF) |
