Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 5: Retired police personnel held protest here today and projected their demands.
Large number of retired police personnel assembled near Exhibition Ground under the banner of All J&K Retd Police Personnel NGO and ORS Forum and held protest. They raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing the protestors, Ajit Singh, President of the Forum said that the Government Order No 229-F of 2014, dated 17-10-2014 is not acceptable regarding pay anomalies since the effect is being given prospective, which means the effect will be given from the date of order.
"With the implementation of this order lot of injustice has been done with the retired persons who actually are struggling right from 1996. From 2007 onwards the case was filed in the Court. Some of them have expired. The surviving strugglers should be given justice by giving the effect of this order at least from 1996, Singh added.
He demanded enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 as per 6th Pay Commission, free of cost medicines and treatment should be provided to the retired police personnel from the Police Hospitals with reimbursement of medical bills to the police retirees.
Singh also demanded 15 per cent reserved quota for the police personnel in recruitment of Police Departments and professional courses, atleast Rs 50,000 should be sanctioned at the time of marriage of daughters/sons of the police retirees as a financial help out of welfare funds.
"At least Rs 50,000 should be sanctioned at the time of death of retired police personnel for performing the last rites of the deceased, SPOs should be made permanent in the Police Department as the salary of Rs 3000 per month being paid to them is total human violation and they should be paid Rs 10,000 per month salary and State Government should follow the pattern of the recently announced One Rank One Pension (OROP) by Central Government", he demanded.
Singh urged the Government to redress the demands on priority basis for the benefit of the retired police personnel
