Mirwaiz causes an affront to self-respect of Jammu, Ladakh
Secessionist movement in Valley

JAMMU, Dec 6: Self-styled Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has caused an affront to the self-respect of the nationalist people of Jammu province and Ladakh region. He has said that they are also contributing to the ongoing separatist and communal movement in parts of the Kashmir Valley. "Despite facing difficult times, people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown great steadfastness to continue the ongoing freedom struggle," Mirwaiz said at Jamia Masjid while addressing his followers, adding that conspiracies are being hatched by RSS goons to change the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir.
"I salute the commitment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir towards the movement despite surge in the suppression every day. The courage shown by people towards the freedom struggle despite facing tyranny, encourages Hurriyat leadership and gives us hope that the next generation is committed to the struggle," he said adding courage exhibited by people is greater than the courage shown by the Hurriyat leadership. Entire Hurriyat leadership expresses its gratitude to people of Jammu and Kashmir for carrying the movement forward. We realize the plight of our people, who are going through the difficult times and still fight like a rock against the ongoing oppression. Peoples' resilience and a strong will is proof of their involvement and commitment toward the movement and that the entire separatist leadership was thankful to the people for showing such steadfastness," Mirwaiz further said while insulting the people of Jammu and Ladakh.
His assertion that the people of the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir are involved in the anti-India struggle is a tale of travesty. The truth is that the people of these two regions constitute the nation's backbone in the state. They have not only been successfully puncturing the separatist movement in parts of the Valley by opposing it tooth and nail but also demanding separation from Kashmir saying they do not want to co-exist with Kashmiris whose sinister demands include self-rule, autonomy, merger with Pakistan and independence from India. The people of Jammu province want status of statehood for their region, as also a regime that dismisses Article 370 as anti-national, divisive, anti-people and anti-democratic. Similarly, the people of Ladakh long for Union Territory status saying they hate the Kashmiri leadership and its sinister agenda.
That the people of these two regions hate demands such as self-rule and autonomy could be seen from the 2014 mandate. They rejected not only the Congress but also the parties like the NC and the PDP. The PDP could win only three seats from Jammu and drew a blank in Ladakh. The NC and the Congress could win only four seats each from Jammu. The NC also drew a blank in Ladakh. It is a different matter that the BJP which got a massive mandate from Jammu and Ladakh betrayed them. The 2014 mandate in Jammu and Ladakh was a mandate for separation from Kashmir and complete integration with India and rejection of the Kashmiri leadership and its politics of separatism and soft-secessionism.
Mirwaiz and others of his ilk must not forget that it was the people of Jammu who brought down the Kashmiri dominated governments in 1953, 1980 and 2008. They would have brought down the Farooq Abdullah Government in 1998 as well had he not conceded the demands of the agitating Jammu youth. They should also remember that the European Union in 1994 had told the international body that only Kashmiri-speaking Sunnis were involved in the anti-India movement and that the Jammu Dogras, Ladakhi Buddhists, Kashmiri Hindus, Shiite Muslims, Gujjar and Bakerwal Muslims and Paharis had nothing to do with the anti-national struggle in the Valley.
These are the hard facts and sooner the fanatics in Kashmir appreciate them, the better. They must stop abusing the people of Jammu and Ladakh failing which they will be taught a lesson like Farooq Abdullah and other Kashmiri leaders were taught in Jammu in 2008.
