Separatists caught on wrong foot, handlers unhappy | Mirwaiz left alone, Geelani asked to perform or perish | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 6: Separatists in Kashmir are caught between the devil and the deep sea as their bosses sitting across the Line of Control are reportedly not interested in nurturing them anymore. Sources told Early Times that separatists are feeling the heat as their bosses believe that they have failed to deliver and are proving ineffective. "Internal bickering among separatists has exposed them. People not paying any heed towards their calls and programmes has proved that masses have rejected them," said a source. A police official while talking to Early Times said, "Most Hawala channels through which money used to flow have been choked due to which separatists and their bosses sitting across the LoC are finding it hard to run their shops." Sources revealed that security forces not allowing the militants to set their foothold in Jammu and Kashmir has frustrated their handlers in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). "Failure of militants has been a major setback for people sitting across the Line of Control. They were hoping that separatists would fill in the gap and would succeed in fomenting trouble till militants regroup themselves but police tightening their noose around henchmen of separatists foiled their nefarious designers," they added. Insiders said that militant and separatist handlers across the LoC want separatists to deliver. "During the past one year most separatists have deserted Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and have joined Geelani's camp to ensure that they keep on getting their share regularly. Recently Geelani elevated Shabir Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan to the top posts of his conglomerate," they added. Sources said that a few leaders who are still supporting the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq are trying to build their own base and are in the process to get themselves registered across the LoC. They believe that other side is not interested in supporting Mirwaiz and the faction led by Geelani won't entertain them. "Division among separatists and they trying to prove their supremacy over each other has brought the entire separatist camp on the crossroads. Their handlers have told them that if they don't prove their worth they would be disowned by them," sources added. They said that a few separatists are trying to send feelers to New Delhi to hold talks with them so that they can give a befitting reply to their mentors sitting across the LoC. "Delhi not recognizing the separatists and asking them to first eschew the path of violence and talks would be held within the ambit of the Indian constitution has put them in the tight spot," sources added. They said, "A few separatists are of the opinion that they should hold talks with New Delhi but they want to ensure that Centre should not disclose that talks are being held within the ambit of Indian constitution." Insiders revealed that a few separatists are even contemplating to join the mainstream camp. "A few leaders are even trying to get in touch with separatist turned mainstream politician Sajad Gani Lone. These leaders want Sajad to facilitate their shifting of camps and an assurance that they would be rehabilitated," sources added. |
