Udhampur, Dec 6: There has been the misuse of government advertising space in the main Gole Market of the town and the nearby Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park by some business houses.
Big hoardings and banners have come up "unauthorisedly" at different places in the market and in front of the park.
Locals want these advertisements to be removed. Bharat Bhushan Gupta, a member of the Morning Walkers' Association, said the hoardings and banners had been erected by the shopkeepers in violation of rules. Some of them had fitted ACs and exhaust fans in the walls of their shops facing the park which "is otherwise not permissible under law," he added. Gupta said they had several times brought the matter to the notice of the authorities concerned but they had taken no action so far. When contacted, Udhampur Municipal Council CEO K K Chanotra said he would personally look into the matter and if any one was found violating the rules, action under law would be taken against him. |
