DDC orders judicial inquiry to probe young woman's death

Poonch, Dec 9: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch today has ordered a judicial probe into the death of a young woman who allegedly died after being administrated an injection for a minor ailment at Mendhar on Tuesday.
Sources said that Gulshan Kousar w/o Alam Din resident of Chhjala, Maendhar a mother of five died soon after she was given an injection at chemist shop viz. M/s Majid Medical Hall, Opp Police station Mendhar on Tuesday resulting her death.
Following massive protest from family members and locals who alleged negligence resulting into the death of their kin, the DDC Poonch today ordered a probe into death of woman and also directed health authorities to constitute a medical board to initiate inquiry into the death of the young lady. "The medical board is directed to submit a report within three days and simultaneously magisterial probe being initiated into the matter is asked to submit its report to DDC Poonch within ten days. "Board of doctors will be headed by CMO Poonch Dr Mumtaz Bahtti," sources added. According to sources, the young lady was injected 'Parizip T-z trade name which is a strong antibiotic besides administrated with fluid (saline) along with and voviran (an inflammatory and analgesic). Meanwhile sources added that autopsy reports are still awaited. A large number of people and family members assembled outside the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar and staged a protest demonstration. Amid slogans against Controller Food and Drug Organization and Director Health Services Jammu, the protestors were demanding action against the guilty at earliest. Family members alleged that sub standard medicines are being sold in entire Poonch district while the concerned authorities are in deep slumber putting lives of common people at great risk. They further alleged that there is no check on chemists in the district who are allegedly involved in selling sub standards drugs.
