Selective regularization worries daily rated workers

Srinagar, Dec 9: Employees of Public Health engineering (PHE) and Forests Departments told Early Times that government has secretly begun a selective process of regularization of blue eyed people out of total 3660 temporary employees of different government departments.
They said that two days ago government officials through a secret communication confirmed regularization to 450 temporary employees of Mechanical wing of PHE Sub division Awantipora, Agriculture and forest departments of Sopore and Srinagar areas. Employees said that all these 450 influential people have also been asked to submit all the necessary documents and collect their permanence order copies from their respective departments.
"It is not the first time that selective mode of regularization has been adopted by government for their loved ones, it happened on many occasions in past as well, today when we see regularization these 450 people out total 3660 employees it only kills within because we too are waiting for our regularization from past 22 years helplessly," one Temporary employee said.
President employees Association Abdul Qayoom Wani terming selective regularization as cheating with all such employees working for their regularization from past 22 years said that finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu recently assured him regularization of all these 3660 employees within a few days.
Minister of state for irrigation and flood control, Abdul Majeed Padder told Early Times that he does not know anything about it and nobody informed him about this kind of development.
As per official accounts 3660 people recruited between 1992 and 1994 on temporary bases till date have completed around 22 years of service and many among these employees are now nearing retirement age.
During his maiden budget session Minister for Finance, Labour, Employment and Culture, Dr. Haseeb Drabu said that with regards to daily wagers engaged upto 31-01-1994, a policy is already in place as per SRO-64 of 1994 dated 24-03-1994 in terms of which 56223 Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) have already been regularized up to February, 2015 leaving behind 3660 persons.
He said that in order to extend the benefit of regularization to such left out DRWs, as well, his Government has also created 3660 posts of Helpers for regularization of as much number of DRWs.
He also said that the process of regularization of DRWs engaged prior to 31-1-1994 as per SRO-64 of 1994 dated 24-03-1994 is likely to be completed during 2015, subject to furnishing of complete proposals by departments.
These Temporary employees want the Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Syed to intervene in the matter and stop selective regularization of blue eyed people.
