Amitab Mattoo eyes RS seat | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 9: Amitabh Mattoo, political advisor to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, is trying to get a seat in Rajya Sabha. Sources said he is trying to influence Mufti to achieve his goal. "Mattoo is trying the influence of Mufti Sayeed to get him into the RS by another quota outside the State as all the five seats from the State for the RS have been filled only recently," the sources said. They said Mattoo is not satisfied with being limited to the J&K, where he doesn't see much scope for him. He wants to expand and use his resources build over the years but cultivating people across the board. He was sidelined after which he managed to get an assignment in Australia where he did try to get close to both Narendra Modi and also NSA Ajit Doval when they visited Australia. "Mattoo has only convinced Mufti to take him as an advisor for some time as being close to him makes him able to pursue his case for the RS seat much more easily," said the sources. They said Mattoo was also not able to do much in the State on two accounts; first on receiving limited mandate in the State and secondly because Modi Government has ended the 'track-II' diplomacy, which former CM Farooq Abdullah has termed as wastage of exchequers' money. |
