Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Dec 9: To be in the good books of Rural Development Minister Abdul Haq Khan, the Block Development Officer (BDO) Damhal Hanji Pora Kulgam on Wednesday skipped his duties and attended an official function here in south Kashmir without any formal invitation. The officer was caught on camera while collecting applications from general public along with some workers of a particular political party. He was also spotted while clicking photographs of the gathering and VIPs present in the function organised by the Rural Development Department at Bagh-e-Nowgam area of Ashajipora, IN Anantnag. In the function, which was attended by top PDP leaders, employees and general public, the BDO allegedly left no stone unturned to appease the minister who is said to be upset with his work. "The Rural Development Minister is upset with the officer as people of his area have approached him and leveled serious allegations against the officer. That is why the officer skipped his duties and attended the function without invitation and worked hard to get noticed by the minister," alleged an official of RDD, pleading anonymity. Assistant Commissioner Development Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad Shah confirmed to media that they hadn't invited any officer from Kulgam district to attend the function. The BDO was not available for his comments as he had kept his cell phone switched off. When contacted, DC Kulgam, Syed Aabid Hussain Shah assured action. "We will examine the case and action will be taken against the officer if he is found guilty," he said.
