Now, BJP leader hits at own Govt for irregular ration supply in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 9: The State Government came under criticism from an unusual quarter over the issue of ration supply in Jammu region as the State unit of BJP on Wednesday said that there has been general complaints about people not getting sugar from public distribution system for the last few months. Expressing concern over the irregular supply of ration, the party spokesperson Prof Virender Gupta asked the Government to streamline the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department and take action against staff responsible for such a situation. The poor sections of society, especially those living below poverty line, are totally dependent on public distribution system for ration as they cannot afford to buy rice, atta, sugar etc, from open market, he added. Significantly, BJP is a major ally of PDP who has formed a coalition Government headed by Mufti Sayeed as Chief Minister. Senior BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh is Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition Government. Gupta also asked the Government to keep adequate stocks of ration items, kerosene and cooking gas etc at remote and hilly areas for use during winter season when roads get blocked due to snowfall and heavy rains. He further appealed to the Government to take effective measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to people during the winter season. |
