Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 9: Ruling out any increase of militancy in the state, the Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajindra today said that the graph of actual number of militants is always fluctuating. The DGP also said that though the infiltration attempts on border continues, but the actual infiltration figure has decreased. "If we see the actual number of militants present in the valley, then I can say that there is always a difference. We neutralize the militants and at the same time we see few local recruits. But yes I can say that there is no such a situation that militancy has increased," Rajindra told.
He said that the Police is all prepared to deal any untoward incident and is watchful towards any kind of threats. "Though infiltration attempts on border continued but the figures have decreased. There is a strict and proper border management in the state. With the help of the strict vigil of security forces on the border, the infiltration of militants from across the border has also been reduced," he said.
He also said that the department is vigilant towards the security of the state. "It has kept a close eye across the state and is prepared to deal with any kind of activity that affects the peace of the state," he said.
Referring to the fresh militant attacks on Security forces especially on CRPF, Rajendra said that we have taken all the imperative measures for peace in valley. "Our pro-active ops have been good in the past against militants and now we are taking further measures in this regard," he added.
DGP further added that a well-planned strategy has been chalked out to thwart any militant attacks in the State. "Police and other security forces have neutralized many top militant commanders. Militants are trying to sensationalize by attacking police and security forces but we are trying our best to curb their movement and attacks," the DGP said and added that Police are constantly working to identify and neutralize (militant) module whether it is sleeper cells or active modules. He said that the people now do not want violence and they want peace. "To a major success for neutralizing the militants, I credit the people," he said.
