CAPD Minister felicitated at Chandigarh | | | Early Times Report Chandigarh, Dec 9: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali was felicitated by India's prestigious organization Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians of India at Chandigarh for his outstanding role in raising the issues of depressed classes. In presence of dignitaries from India and abroad on the birth anniversary of father of Indian Constitution Dr B.R Ambedkar organized by the forum at Tagore Theatre Chandigarh, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali along with Former Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan were honoured for their role and contribution in raising and settling issues of persons belonging to lower and weaker strata of the society. Speaking on the occasion while paying tribute to B.R Ambedkar, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that the dream of Ambedkar is yet not realized because weaker sections of the society are still fighting for justice adding that these classes are oppressed since centuries and their condition has not yet been changed for the last more than six decades and appealed to the present regime of the country to take appropriate steps for ameliorating the lot of depressed classes. He added that a comprehensive mechanism must be adopted for welfare of weaker section and de share must be given to them in all sectors. He added that reservations play vital roles and government must continue reservations to these people so that to boost the economic and social standard of their life.Terming Dr.Ambedkar as pragmatist to the core, Zulfkar said that Ambedkar was of the view that in absence of economic and social justice, political independence would not bring about their social solidarity or national integration adding that is why Ambedkar advocated the abolition of privileges on the basis of caste or status and vigorously fought for the liberty and dignity of the individual. |
