Jammu, Jan 12: Golf Course is one of the luxurious game for which the members belonging to elite section of the society has to shell out worth crores of rupees for membership thereby strengthening its financial kit, but the contractual worker who are instrumental for the beautification and maintenance of golf course have been languishing for their wages for the last five months.
However, the newly constructed Golf Course, Sidhra has succeeded to attract 570 members of the Non Gazetted and Gazetted category, and get worth of crores rupees as membership fee but it is very unfortunate, the workers engaged by the authority for beautification and maintenance of the same, are running pillar to post to get their salaries of last five months.
"The authority concerned rather than maintaining a good relation with the workers has always seemed to intimidate the workers that if anyone apprised to VIPs players (bureaucrats) or media persons as they have been working without salaries for last five months, are to be disengaged from their services", said a contractual worker on condition of not to be mentioned. The worker further said that on the shoulders of contractual workers, the authority concerned has organized big tournament either at state level or national level and make huge money from memberships and tournament. "Unfortunately, when the authority asked to workers that it has no sufficient funds to release workers salary which makes in lakhs", he said. Another contractual worker informed Early Times that the duel character of the administration concerned could be gauged from this fact that one hand the authority claims as all the workers are considered equal.
"Unfortunately, some workers or you can say that who are close to administration have been getting more salaries from rest of the workers, exposing step motherly treatment of the administration", he alleged. It is pertinent to mention here that the membership of non gazetted category is Rs 5,00,000 while the membership for gazetted category is 1,00,000 but despite of getting huge money from membership, the department concerned has still failed to release the salaries of contractual workers of five months. When correspondent contacted to Secretary, Col, Bali that the administration has priority to release salaries of the workers who are engaged for maintenance, so, as the funds are released, the salaries will be released. In reply of query, he further said that the regularization of workers is under process as the department concerned will nod, the process will be started. |
