PDP leaders suspect infoleak | Who are black sheep? | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 12: The PDP suspects that some "confidential and strategic planning" within the party is being leaked to the BJP, thereby hindering the timely tie-up between the two parties for governance in Jammu and Kashmir. Some of the PDP stalwarts, who have been the founding members of the party, believe that all the negotiations within the party held since the sad demise of late Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, over alliance with the BJP, reached the other party beforehand keeping them well-prepared about the next move. "Almost all what we decided including setting up of preconditions with them (BJP) reached them beforehand, which speaks of some black-sheep within our rank and file who do this all for personal benefits," said a senior PDP leader pleading anonymity. He said otherwise nobody other than the party leaders or their "close aides" were privy to such deliberations. "We had prepared a blueprint of negotiations including do’s and don'ts which the two parties would adapt for the smooth functioning of the alliance in future. But it all went waste due to the role of blacksheep who leaked everything," the sources said. They said even this development leaked that PDP had no plans to look for alternative to alliance but that it would go ahead with the BJP. The PDP leaders said the party was passing through a "crucial phase" after the sad demise of Mufti Sayeed but that the information leak has emerged as a major challenge for the integrity of the party. "Basically some of us had planned to say that let BJP take the initiative of talks with us but our plan didn't stay confidential. It is serious threat to the integrity of party nurtured by Mufti Sayeed who always kept the cards close to the chest," the leaders said. Sources said this was why senior BJP leader recently threw the ball into PDP court saying that "we are ready to continue with the alliance but let PDP take the initiative." Eyebrows are being raised over the conduct of some PDP leaders and their close aides, some Government employees known for switching loyalties from one politician to another. The PDP leadership suspects that politicians who continue to maintain "very cordial relations with Nagpur Headquarters of BJP" leaked the information. "Time has proved that role of such a lot has been dubious and we feel that they can go to any extent to meet their personal motives," the sources said. Given the information leak, the PDP leadership is planning to pick up the matter with the party President Mehbooba Mufti to evolve a foolproof mechanism of keeping the developments within the party confidential. |
