Mehbooba set to take oath as CM | | | Early Times Report Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 12: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is set to take oath as the next Chief Minister of the State shortly. The PDP and BJP have reached an understanding for the continuation of the alliance and also that no new conditions will be put up before the Government formation. According to the sources, Mehbooba Mufti has given her consent to take oath-of-office after the seven-day mourning period ends on Jan 14. The sources said that since the agenda-of-alliance is already in place there is no need to hold deliberations and things will start from where they were left with the demise of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "PDP president has agreed for the continuation of the alliance. She was authorised by the party MLAs to take a decision and they will go by it. She has decided not to take any decision against the designs of the Mufti Sayeed so she will soon take over the as Chief Minister," said the sources. The PDP has though also made it clear that there will be no new look on the allotment of portfolios and things will not be touched. The BJP has though also reluctantly decided to continue to support the Government. Sources said the BJP high command has also directed its legislators to keep supporting the Mehbooba Mufti and also don't make much hankering for 'new portfolios' and also not to make any statement that may sound critical of the Mehbooba Mufti. "The PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have given assurance to the Mehbooba Mufti that Centre will give all possible assistance for the development of the Government and also that they would like to see the continuation of the alliance. It's a clear message that Mehbooba Mufti has the direct assurance of the two important leaders of the BJP so no new things need to be added up," said a senior BJP leader. |
