For power, Madhav says prepared to accept 2015 anti-Jammu power-sharing deal | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 12: The BJP high command has, it seems, unleashed BJP national general secretary and in-charge J&K, Ram Madhav, to cultivate PDP president Mehbooba Mufti so that the PDP-BJP coalition Government was installed in the State at the earliest. Madhav had on Sunday reassured Mehbooba Mufti from New Delhi that the BJP would help her to give an effect to the "Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's vision for J&K". Mufti Sayeed stood and worked for self-rule for J&K, demilitarization, revocation of AFSPA and PSA, dual currency. Islamic banking, soft borders, irrelevant Line of Control and shared sovereignty in J&K or a regime under which both India and Pakistan shall exercise co-equal sovereign powers in the State. It appears the reassurance of Ram Madhav had not moved Mehbooba Mufti. That's the reason Madhav again gave her to understand that her alliance with the BJP will be advantageous to her party. He said that the BJP was prepared to accept the 2015 power-sharing deal or sacrifice the interests of Jammu province like what it did in March 2015 by handing over everything to the PDP and Kashmir. "Late Chief Minister Sayeed, following whose death the State has been brought under Governor's Rule, had a 'grand vision' for the J and K which resulted in the alliance between the two parties, Madhav said. He added that "we had an alliance months ago with the grand vision of the State's development", that we (BJP) are in favour of continuing that arrangement for the larger benefit of the State" and that "it has been in the interest of the State and we want this to continue". The statement of Madhav came amid suspense over Government formation in J&K. He put the ball in PDP's court, saying that the "Mehbooba Mufti-led party has to take the first call and made it clear that it wanted the existing power-sharing arrangement between the two parties to continue". Why do the BJP want to punish the people of Jammu province? What crime they have committed? Did they commit a blunder by voting for the BJP? The Jammu's mandate for the BJP was not a mandate for their destruction; they had voted for the BJP hoping that it would fight for their cause and also defeat the separatist forces in the Kashmir Valley. It is the fundamental duty of the local BJP leadership to put its foot down and reject the BJP high command's anti-Jammu moves. The people of Jammu will teach the BJP a lesson in case the BJP high command imposed on them the 2015 power-sharing formula. |
