Jammu, Jan 12: An accused in the Akhnoor sex-scandal was today denied bail by the presiding officer of the fast track court. The bail application, moved by Hardeep Tangotra alias Sahil, son of Krishan Lal of Gandharwan, Akhnoor, was rejected by fast track court's presiding officer Kishore Kumar. The accused was arrested on the basis of a written complaint lodged with Akhnoor police station by Surinder Kumar, alleging therein that one Gulshan Kumar alias Abhi of Pathankot had abducted his 15-year-old daughter, a student of 10th class. In his complaint, he also alleged that the accused had called his daughter twice on her cellphone. Taking a cognizance of the complaint, police registered a case under section 363 of RPC and entrusted investigation of the case to ASI Kuldeep Singh. The ASI, accompanied by the complainant, later went to Pathankot and recovered the girl from the possession of Abhi who had kept her at Nanku Chak. The IO later got the girl medically examined from sub-district hospital, Akhnoor, and also got her statement recorded under section 164-A of CrPC. On the basis of her statement, the offence under section 376 of RPC was also added. During the course of investigation, the IO also arrested Pawan Kumar, Amit Gupta and Anil Magotra on December 9, 2015. He also got identification parade of the accused conducted in the presence of executive magistrate, Akhnoor, and arrested one more accused namely Raj Pal alias Rama. The investigation of the case was still in progress. Hardeep Tangotra alias Sahil was also identified by the victim in the identification parade of suspects. The presiding officer, after hearing the additional public prosecutor, observed that since the accused was arrested for the commission of offence under sections 363 and 376 of RPC and investigation of the case was still at the initial stage, the petitioner, arrested for a very heinous offence, "does not deserve bail at this stage". With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. (JNF) |
