Pahari students rue lack of basic amenities in hostel 1/16/2016 9:58:52 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 16: Utter inadequacies of infrastructure and basic facilities for PG students in Pahari hostel Narwal Bala Jammu have adversely affected the study of the students. The matter has been repeatedly taken up with Social Welfare Department but they didn't release single penny for the welfare of the students since August 2015. A delegation led by Abdul Faisal Janjua, Arslan Malik, Shah Nawaz Khaki and Waheed Ahamed told Early Times that they are staying in the hostel facing a lot of problems. "It is dire need of basic and other facilities to the youth hailing from Rajouri and Poonch pursuing higher studies and various professional courses in Jammu", they claimed adding the Jammu city being the hub of education, thousands of young boys and girls hailing from far flung areas throng the city every year for their studies. After reaching Jammu a lot of their precious time gets wasted to find out suitable accommodation as shortage of rooms and basic facilities in these hostels. Sources stated that the issue has been highlighted many times during last many years but the concerned authorities have turned blind eyes toward the issue. Sources further said that the building of hostel at Narwal Bala Jammu is rented and for the last one year the rent has not been paid and some officials of the hostel have not been paid salaries for last two years. Around 8-9 students have been accommodated in single room but despite being well aware about the matter the concerned department is least bothered to solve their problems. When contacted, Warden of Pahari hostel at Narwal Bala Istabaz Ahmed admitted lack of basic facilities in the hostel.
