Guv's admin seeks list of corrupt officials | War against corruption | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 16: As the stalemate over Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir entered into 9th day on Saturday, the Governor's administration has reportedly asked the concerned agencies to look into the second list of corrupt officials which was prepared during the PDP-BJP regime. Pertinently, the State Vigilance Organization and other investigating agencies had prepared a list of the officials who were involved neck deep into the corruption and had submitted it to the Chief Minister's office for further action. Sources revealed that Governor's administration wants to have a look at the list to ascertain who all figure in it and the charges that have been leveled against the officials. "The investigations carried out by the various agencies have even revealed the details of the benami properties of the officials who figure in the list," sources added. They said there is enough evidence against the officials, who have amassed huge wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. "The list would be forwarded to the Governor very soon," sources said. Insiders revealed that late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was himself spearheading the war against corruption but a few former Ministers around him sabotaged the entire process. "The investigating agencies have identified big fishes, who have strong political connections. A few people ensured that list is put under the carpet and these big fishes are saved," the insiders added. It's in place to mention here that soon after the investigating agencies prepared the first list of "corrupt officials" more than sixty officials were shown the exit door and their services were terminated. "The another list of corrupt officials which was prepared by the investigating agencies has more than 100 names and it includes a few police officials also," sources claimed. Insiders said that Governor's administration asking for the list has made many officials uncomfortable and they are hoping that PDP and BJP end the impasse soon so that political dispensation takes over the reins of the State. "If Governor's administration decides to take action against the corrupt officials whose names figure in the list prepared by the various investigating agencies it would prove to be a big blow for the officials as well as their political masters who had managed to save them," said a source. He said a few former Ministers have assured their 'Chamchas' that they need not worry as breakthrough over forming a new Government would be achieved soon. However, sources maintained that Governor's administration asking for the list has created ripples in the official circles and a few officials who fear that their names may figure in the list are looking for ways and means to save their skin. |
