Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 16: A tussle is said to have broken out between two state cadre IPS officers to become the first chief of an anti-terror agency of the Centre which is scheduled to open its full-fledged office here to fight militancy. Both of them are at present on deputation to the Centre. One of them had come to the state to probe into a terror attack that had taken place in the region last year. Both are said to have activated their political contacts and the contacts in MHA to occupy the agency's office as and when it was opened in Jammu, according to police sources. Sources said a senior officer of the agency had also called on the state governor in this regard in the recent past. Since he got a green signal from the governor, the work on establishing the office could begin any time, the sources added. The Jammu office, when set up, would also have its jurisdiction in the neighbouring Punjab, sources informed. Sources said the agency was also mulling to make an IGP rank officer the incharge of the Jammu office. In that case, the two IPS officer, who were trying to head it, would have to work under him, the sources added. |
