| PDP's 'performance' assessing move impels BJP too | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 16: As the Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti continues to maintain silence about the government formation, this phase of political stillness has prompted BJP leadership also to go in for an introspective session and performance reviewing exercise, a move that will enable the party to check the loopholes in its own flock.
Three days after PDP spelled out the party's concerns stating that they would review performance of past 10 months and see whether it has achieved anything in the government or not, this has also impelled BJP to have a look of the performance of the party ministers during the past 10 months, sources said. While PDP is reviewing the performance of the party during 10 month long rule to assess what they see as visualising the vision of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed, the BJP leadership will do it mainly for the sake of evaluating the performance of its ministers and gauging on that basis if they could be given the ministerial berths in the event of government formation, sources said.
Sources further said an exercise to this effect has already begun , though not in a formal meeting with leaders like Ram Madhav, Avinash Rai Khanna in touch with the top central leadership which is keeping a close watch on the developments within the PDP and its activities with regard to their 'performance reviewing' move. However, this has stimulated the BJP's key leaders whose final say matters in deciding who all could be the ministers in the possible next alliance mode with the PDP.
Sources said the performance of the BJP ministers is being gauged and judged on various parameters, not only in terms of their contribution in the ministries but due weightage is being given as to how many of them were able to keep rapport with the party during this phase, a front on which almost of all of them have faltered, a feedback constantly received from the workers. Sources said the performance reviewing exercise is set to herald some changes with regard to changes in the portfolios which the party will get after possible alliance with PDP , as and when it happens. While the performance assessing move has triggered the possibility of reshuffle of portfolios within the party, it may also impact the composition with a couple of erstwhile ministers likely to be shown the exit from the assignment and some new faces making it in the new dispensation . As PDP is using this gap as an opportunity to garner some political gains in the valley BJP leadership is using the performance reviewing move to improve its dented image and resentment against those who occupied the berths for the last 10 months. |
