Desperate BJP sends feelers to NC | Government Formation in JK | | Farooq says, let saffron party make the first move Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 16: The silence maintained by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir has prompted the desperate Bharatiya Janata Party to send feelers to National Conference that its doors are open. Sources told Early Times a few second rung BJP leaders have met NC leaders and have discussed with them the possibility of both the parties joining hands if PDP says goodbye to BJP. "Discussions between BJP and NC leaders have taken place at a lower level and I don't think much headway has been made in this connection," said a BJP leader. He said the decision about the government formation has to be taken by the party high command in New Delhi. "It seems local leaders are preparing ground as BJP high command is unhappy over PDP maintaining silence over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir," the leader added. Pertinently, the senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had held an important meeting with the senior BJP leaders Avinash Rai Khanna and Ram Madhav in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the stalemate over delay in government formation in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources claimed a few BJP central leaders have asked their close aides to start looking for options if PDP backtracks. "Everything is happening unofficially. There is nothing wrong in BJP leaders meeting NC men. We have to look for options as we cannot keep on waiting forever," sources claimed BJP leaders as having said. Meanwhile, the National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah threw a bombshell on Friday saying, "If BJP approaches NC to form the government in the state proposal can be discussed." ''It was Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who took an initiative and formed government with the BJP and now, it is up to them to think whether to continue and how to continue,'' Dr Farooq told media persons during his visit to Katra town of Reasi district. The former Union Minister said, ''PDP must clear its stand on government formation so that the stalemate ends in the interest and welfare of the state.
