Vijaypur, Jan 16 : Accusing J&K govt of insulting martyrs, Congress on Saturday held a strong protest demonstration in Vijaypur, demanding compensation to the kins of Defense Service Corps (DSC) employee who scarified his life while combating terrorists in Pathankot Air Force Base. Led by former Minister and General Secretary JKPCC Manjit Singh, the party workers assembled in front of Office of SDM Vijaypur and protested against the ignorance of Government towards the suffering of the martyr family of Mool Raj. Pertinently Martyr Mool Raj a resident of Jakh Chandla (Vijaypur) was killed while fighting Pak sponsored terrorists in Pathankot. Addressing the protestor, Manjit Singh alleged that J&K govt in which BJP is an alliance partner which used to show as if they are more patriotic have ignored and allegedly insulted the martyrs. "The family of Mool Raj was not given compensation like other states in India have regarded their martyrs and gave them adequate respect as well as compensation," Singh said. Instead, he said, J&K Government turned its back and apparently has insulted the martyr family. "Our government did not bother about the martyr family and offered no help," the senior JKPCC leader said, further adding that no assurance was given to the family. Similarly, he said, "Naib Subdar Ram Singh was also killed in Manipur while fighting with naxalites but he too was ignored. Senor Congress leader demanded that Rs 50 lakhs compensation should be given to the martyr families. The Government should also own responsibility of education of children of martyr and give a Government jobs to the bereaved families. Later, the Congress workers handed over a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra though SDM Vijaypur. Among those who addressed the protestors include Babal Gupta, Bharat Bhushan, Capt Harnam Singh, Capt Mohan Lal Sharma, Ram Murti, Tilak Raj Sharma, Shamsher Singh Jamwal and others. |
