Burglars loot five shops, CAPD store in Badgam | | | Early Times Report
Badgam, Feb 19: Massive protests erupted in Beerwah area in Badgam district, where five shops and a store of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) were looted during night, official sources said here. They said shopkeepers were shocked when they found five shops looted during the intervening night at Beerwah in Badgam district this morning. Shopkeepers also joined by local residents took to streets, protesting against the administration for failing to protect their shops. They said the shops looted included one electronic and a readymade garments. The demonstrators disrupted traffic on the main road for hours before police and civil administration intervened and assured that a Special Team has been constituted to arrest the thieves. However, local traders federation alleged that despite repeated requests to police to intensify night patrolling, nothing was done. They said thieves also looted rice from a CAPD store village Habber in Khag in the central Kashmir. Meanwhile, police has registered cases in both the incidents and started investigation. |
