People hold protest against torture of innocent

KATHUA, Feb19: In protest against the torture of teenage boy by Sarpanch, teacher and Sub-Inspector, the people of Panchayat Mirpur staged a massive protest at Rajbagh on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and blocked it for at least five hours.
The protesting people alleged that Sarpanch Mirpur Bhushan Kumar, his brother Kalu- a teacher and Sub-Inspector deployed in Police Station Rajbagh mercilessly beat an innocent 16 years old school going boy without any serious allegation.
They further said that the incident occurred one week ago but no action has been taken against any culprit involved in it.
Sources informed Early Times that the boy identified as Ganesh Kumar,16, of Gynari, Panchayat Mirpur was coming back from school on February 12 when Sarpanch and his teacher-brother indulged in non-serious arguments with the boy and started beating him mercilessly.
Their heinous attempt continued till handling over the boy to Police Station Rajbagh where they asked Sub Inspector for more torture resulting in damage to the spinal cord of the boy. Villagers intervened and admitted the boy in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where the doctors advised to shift the boy to AIIMS, New Delhi.
Frustrated villagers approached District Administration, Police Station but nobody heard their appeal that today triggered in blockage of National Highway near Mirpur for 5 hours.
Santosh Devi, relative of victim, pointed out heinous act and demanded serious action against all culprits including suspension orders of Sub-Inspector and Teacher. She said the child got handicapped due to the severe beating. "Despite a visual proof in the form of a video clipping of boy's thrashing which got viral in social media, the district administration and police department failed to take action against culprit or inquire the matter", she said.
Ajay Kumar, other protester, pointed out failure of police department and condemned the heinous act that is openly violation of Human Rights. He said the child got handicapped but administration took the matter lightly.
The protestors appealed Governor to intervene in the matter and order serious action against culprits and medical facilities for the victim.
