Illegal constructions galore at Mendhar 2/19/2016 11:39:32 PM M S NAZKI Mendhar, Feb 19: Illegal constructions are alleged to be on the rise on government land in different Mendhar areas of Poonch district. Some 'influential' and 'politically connected' people were said be behind all these unlawful constructions, official sources alleged, quoting locals. Some constructions were being raised in commercial pockets of the town, sources alleged, saying close relatives of a legislator were also busy in raising a commercial structure on government land. While the illegal constructions were in progress, the authorities concerned were not taking any action against the grabbers of the government land, sources said. Chairman of Youth Club, Mendhar, Nadeen Rafiq Hussain alleged that some influential people had encroached upon government land in the town. Some politically connected people had raised illegal constructions also in Bhata Dhurian panchayat of Balakote with the support of politician. The structures were later demolished by the authorities concerned following protests by people, he added.
